Biography

I believe that anyone can learn to dance with practice, patience and commitment.  Dance is a wonderful way to stay active throughout our lifetimes, and I enjoy being able to offer the gift of dance to anyone willing to learn.

I have been partner-dancing for 11 years and teaching professionally since 2001.  Several years ago I began dancing the Argentine Tango and was certified in the DVIDA Bronze, Silver and Gold Argentine Tango Syllabus in 2006.  I completed the Metronome Dance Center's Bronze Teacher Training Program in American Smooth, Rhythm, and Nightclub/Swing dance in 2000 and began teaching at the Metronome Dance Center in 2001.

I have also studied Studied Afro-Haitian, Ballroom, Ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance, Dunham Technique, Choreography, Kinesiology/Anatomy, Dance Medicine, Dance History and World Dance at City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University and Hamilton College from 1993-1998.  At local studios in San Francisco I studied Afro-Brazilian Dance and Samba.

In 2005, I won the San Francisco Bay Guardian's "Best of the Bay" award for "Best Dance Class with Spice" with my co-teacher Mila Salazar.  The editors wrote that we are  "passionate, enthusiastic instructors who have set many a double-left-footer on the path to bipedal harmony . . . ."

To further my learning, I still take Argentine Tango, Yoga and other dance classes.
